You read that right. I’m not burying the lede here. The next book in The Jayu City Chronicles, The Cordelia Solution, has been delayed to November 11, 2025.
Publishing is a strange and slow industry, to be sure. There are a lot of factors here, none of which I’ll get into. Trust me when I say that I get just as excited, if not more excited, for a new book to come into the world as my fans. I’ve certainly talked to a few people who are chomping at the bit to dive into Elise’s next story, and I’m right there with you.
But…this also gives me more time to get blurbs, arrange book launch events, and generally get the hype machine rolling. And I’m not mad about moving squarely into the holiday season.
And it gives you more time to catch up and read The Hermes Protocol and Necropolis Alpha.
Still Writing
People sometimes ask me, “Are you writing anything right now?”
This question always makes me chuckle. I’m ALWAYS writing something. Not like, every minute of every day, but I always have at least one work in progress.
Right now? Well, it’s a secret…for now.
I was already writing book four of The Jayu City Chronicles and working on a play with a dear friend when another, shall we say, opportunity arose. It is under contract, so I’m working on a deadline. And I promise that a formal announcement is coming sometime in the next few months.
In fact, I’m currently in Sedona, Arizona. While my wife is doing a spiritual retreat, I’m taking it as a writing retreat. I usually write about 1000 words per day. Yesterday? My first day here in Sedona? I wrote 5000. Here’s a picture from today’s writing perch.
Fear not, Jayu City fans, the cyberpunk train is not derailed. I write pretty fast, and book four is already outlined and underway. I’ll get back to it soon enough, and hopefully it’ll drop sometime next year. I’ll get back to finishing that play, too, then working to get it staged in Kansas City.
Reading
I haven’t done a reading roundup in a while, and I miss them. So, what am I reading right now? What have I recently finished?
